NATIONWIDE — Color Of Change, the nation’s largest online racial justice organization, issued the following statement in response to the Randolph County Board of Elections’ vote to reject the closure of polling places in predominantly Black communities.

Brandi Collins, Senior Campaign Director of Media, Democracy & Economic Justice at Color Of Change:

Today’s vote by the Randolph County Board of Elections is a victory for democracy and the civil rights of Black Georgians. There’s no way to sugar coat it: this was a transparent attempt to wage war on Black voters and our fundamental freedom to vote. And this won’t be the last time conservative politicians attempt to silence our communities – we’re currently witnessing a wave of voter suppression tactics blocking people from the ballot all across the country.

Color Of Change members stand ready to fight back against future attacks. In Randolph County, we turned our presence into power- over 2,000 members made calls and emails pressuring officials to reject this racist proposal. As long as racist politicians and their enablers attack the civil rights of Black communities, we will continue to raise our voices to hold public officials accountable and secure justice.
