Color Of Change, the nation’s largest online racial justice organization, issued the following statement in response to former police officer Roy Oliver being found guilty of murdering teenager Jordan Edwards.

Scott Roberts, Senior Campaign Director at Color Of Change:

“Today, the family of Jordan Edwards received justice as his killer, former police officer Roy Oliver, was convicted for murder. Over 150,000 Color Of Change members, allies, and local organizations called on Dallas DA Faith Johnson to prosecute Oliver–and won. Prosecutors have a duty to fight for the victims of injustice, including innocent black children. We celebrate this victorious moment in honor of Jordan Edward’s legacy, while also acknowledging the Dallas County District Attorney office still has work to do. DA Johnson rightfully prosecuted Oliver for his vile racism, but she mirrored his prejudice by recently agreeing to charge four Black children as adults. Justice for Jordan Edwards must include treating all Black kids like kids to ensure another young life is not taken at the hands of racism. ”
