New Ad Targets CPAC Attendees, Links GOP to David Duke

ColorOfChange Ad Links Rep. Scalise, David Duke, and KKK

Washington, DC — ColorOfChange.org launched digital ads this week targeting attendees of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) with an image depicting Rep Steve Scalise with David Duke and the KKK asking, “Is this your GOP?”

Rashad Robinson, Executive Director of ColorOfChange.org, issued the following statement about the ads:

“The Republican Party has shown an unwillingness to confront hatred within its own ranks. Year after year, the GOP continues to allow white supremacist groups to attend their marquee event: CPAC. This is no surprise coming from the party that rushed to the defense of Rep Steve Scalise after he admitted to pandering to a David Duke-founded hate organization.”

“As Republican leaders and activists gather at CPAC to discuss the future of their party, GOP Presidential hopefuls have to decide whether they’re going to be the type of leaders that confront racism in their ranks or cravenly shrink from that responsibility in order to exploit hatred for political gain. “

“These ads will let the candidates and activists know that we’re watching. They tell Republicans that no Presidential nominee will be allowed to pander to white supremacists one day and come for Black folks’ votes the next. And they serve as a challenge to every Republican Presidential candidate to demonstrate political courage and confront racism within the GOP by repudiating Representative Steve Scalise and rejecting the politics of hate.”
