“Glenn Beck’s desperate attempt to re-write history over the cancellation of his show on Fox News couldn’t be further from what actually took place. The reality is that for months on end ColorofChange organized their members and allies to send tens of thousands of letters, emails and phone calls complaining about his continued race-baiting. Because of this pressure, hundreds of companies pulled their advertising dollars from the show.

More than 285,000 ColorOfChange members participated in a campaign to have Beck’s show removed from Fox News, a campaign which began in July 2009. Because of the campaign, Beck’s show lost more than 300 advertisers – companies that were unwilling to attach their products and brands to his vitriolic and divisive commentary. Now, Fox News’ admission to Politico’s Mike Allen that Beck did, in fact, leave the network because of a massive loss of advertising dollars is further proof of everyday people holding powerful interests and people accountable for their words and actions.

ColorOfChange.org and our 850,000 members will continue to fight to hold companies accountable for where they spend their advertising budgets.”
