Oakland, CA — ColorOfChange.org, the nation’s largest online civil rights organization, is calling for the swift passage of the Prison Sterilization Prohibition bill. Rashad Robinson, Executive Director of ColorOfChange.org, said, “We are outraged that women, particularly Black and other women of color, are being pressured to receive sterilization procedures without full knowledge of their implications.

“It’s time to end these abusive sterilization practices in California prisons. This bill gives inmates access to much-needed resources and will help prevent deceptive practices by medical staff.

Over 4,400 Californian ColorOfChange members have already voiced their support for this vital bill. It should be passed and enacted immediately.”
