COLOR OF CHANGE RESPONDS TO SENATE PASSING EGREGIOUS RECONCILIATION PLAN THAT TAKES AWAY KEY SERVICES FOR BLACK COMMUNITIES
NATIONAL – After a series of votes and amendments, the Senate passed a Budget Resolution that will catastrophically cut safety-net programs including Medicaid, Medicare, and SNAP.
Portia Allen-Kyle, Interim Executive Director of Color Of Change, issued the following statement:
“Despite calls from thousands of constituents, the Senate passed a dangerous bill that will take life-saving resources out of the hands of families across the nation in exchange for tax breaks. This budget resolution is part of a neo-segregationist agenda to enshrine power in the hands of a few without any regard to the harm it will cause and the lives it will cost. Programs like Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, and TANF are what allow some of our most vulnerable communities to survive yet this Administration is clear in its refusal to protect all Americans. We will continue to organize because our survival is dependent on building community and coalitions to protect one another when our government will not.”
