NEW YORK, NY – With Election day just one day away, ColorOfChange.org is urging the Black community that they must head to the polls and have their voices heard. The “Care Like Crazy” campaign targets Black Millennial voters and shows what’s at stake for their communities if they don’t show up to vote on Tuesday. The video features an exaggerated representation of a White voter speaking about issues important to young Black voters, like Voter ID laws, in a patronizing tone.

Full transcript: “Is standing in line to vote a pain? Of course. And I know more and more it just seems like the candidates just don’t represent our interest. But I vote every year, even during midterm elections, for candidates who support things like stricter voter ID laws and cuts to early voting. Its subtle I know, but how else are we supposed to keep the Blacks from taking over the Country..we can only put so many of them in jail.

Rashad Robinson, Executive Director of ColorOfChange said, “While the video is a spoof, the message is clear. There are people out there with dangerous beliefs about Black people — they have to care and vote as much as other Americans do.”

The “Care Like Crazy” campaign is a partnership between Rock the Vote, VotoLatino, 18 Million Rising and ColorOfChange.org.
