New York—Today, ColorOfChange launches Vote.ColorOfChange.org, a new website offering exhaustive information on voting regulations and requirements to combat disenfranchising policies and ensure that the Black community is empowered to raise its voice in the voting booth this election. The site guides visitors through voter registration, sharing registration deadlines and procedures, ID requirements, and early voting opportunities state by state. Vote.ColorOfChange.org will also be updated throughout the election season as pending voting laws are finalized.

“The right of Black Americans to vote is under attack from the far right across the country,” said ColorOfchange.org Executive Director Rashad Robinson. “ColorOfChange is dedicated to making sure our community is registered and ready to vote on November 6th.”

According to reports, 90 million people will not vote this election, although they are eligible to do so. Statistics from the Brennan Center for Justice show the 5 million people could be disenfranchised in 2012 due to voter restriction laws, while 11% of eligible voters do not have ID, a condition that increases amongst low-income communities, communities of color, and the elderly. Additionally, 10 million people live more than 10 miles away from their ID issuing office, 1.2 million of whom are black and 500,000 of whom are Hispanic.

Vote.ColorOfChange.org will also host the Watch the Race 2012 blog, which will monitor and pushback against instances of race-baiting and voter suppression during the election. It will also allow for users to report on the race by uploading their own evidence of race-baiting or voter confusion efforts in their local elections.

The Vote.ColorOfChange.org site will also be made available to voting rights organizations, community groups, media and other partners around the country as a resource for any voters who need assistance wading through the patchwork of laws governing the election process in the U.S. Links and embeddable graphics will be available through Vote.ColorOfChange.org
