New York — The following is a statement from Rashad Robinson, Executive Director of ColorOfChange:

“We condemn Dinesh D’Souza’s violent, race-baiting reference toward Black folks and President Barack Obama. D’Souza’s implicit association with George Zimmerman and his callous disregard for Trayvon Martin’s memory is shameful and irresponsible.

“We’re thankful that D’Souza’s comments will push him further to the margins of civil discourse, as are the millions of people who stood up for justice in the wake of the Trayvon Martin tragedy. D’Souza’s reckless comments reinforce racial bias and prejudice, which all too often has deadly consequences for Black youth and adults alike. D’Souza has every right to his opinion, and to share it on Twitter or anywhere else. But the question — “Where do you stand?” — should and will be asked of the universities that hire him, the political leaders that align themselves with him, the publishers and stores that peddle his writings, and the organizations and institutions that provide a platform for his vision.”
