Statement from Matt Nelson, Organizing Director of ColorOfChange.org:

“In the video, peaceful protestors can be seen and heard ushering the ambulance through the crowd as it passes through the demonstration. The billboard truck is clearly stopped, not blocking the ambulance, and unable to pull over any further than it was already stationed. Police claimed they arrested, detained, and ticketed the driver of the moving billboard, as well as impounded the truck, because he was blocking the ambulance. These videos clearly demonstrate the lengths police will go to prevent peaceful protestors from carrying their message of justice and accountability. This billboard truck was targeted for its content and participation in a lawful demonstration protected by the first amendment right to free speech.

“Through the use of unjust and unlawful arrests, excessive ticketing, and outright lies, police are trying to silence the brave Missourians who are risking their lives to expose widespread, discriminatory police violence and to secure accountability for the brutal killing of Mike Brown. These discriminatory and heavy handed police tactics must end. We call on Ferguson law enforcement to drop all tickets against the driver of the billboard truck and others arrested while peacefully protesting.”
