New York, NY – The following is a statement from Rashad Robinson, Executive Director of ColorOfChange.org, concerning tonight’s vote in the US House of Representatives on the potential debt deal reached by President Barack Obama and Congressional negotiators.

“More than 70,000 ColorOfChange.org members have called on Congress and the White House not to pass any deal which attempts to reduce the debt on the backs of poor and working class people, while asking nothing from the wealthiest Americans and corporations. Unfortunately, this deal fails both those tests.”

With more than 750,000 members, ColorOfChange.org is the nation’s largest African American online political organization.
