New York, NY — Fast Company recently named ColorOfChange.org, the largest online civil rights organization, as one of the 50 Most Innovative Companies in the World. Each year, the magazine gathers and analyzes data on companies from around the world in order to highlight organizations with particularly visionary and nimble business models, an ethos of sustainability, and a culture of creativity.

“We sincerely thank Fast Company for highlighting our work and the participation of our members,” said Rashad Robinson, Executive Director of ColorOfChange.org. “The recognition of our story is a testament to the true power of a new generation of activists, adept at using technology to bypass traditional media gatekeepers and amplify issues of injustice, including police misconduct, nationwide. The courage, stories, and determination of so many people across this nation – including our one million members — have made this a national moment for change.”

According to Fast Company, ColorOfChange is building “a civil rights organization for the 21st century,” equipped with the tools necessary to effect substantive change in today’s world. Particularly noted is ColorOfChange’s model of citizen lobbying, rooted in collective engagement and action, as opposed to more traditional top-down organizing. The organization is honing this, among other strategies, in service of finding innovative ways to mobilize and empower communities across the country and strengthen the political voice of Black America. ColorOfChange does not take money from lobbyists or big corporations, but is a ground up organization supported by member donations and foundations.

“This honor speaks to the invaluable efforts of our team, members, board, volunteers and our coalition partners across the country,” continued Robinson. “We certainly do not stand alone.”
