New York, NY: “The ColorOfChange community is deeply saddened and outraged by NYPD’s killing of Eric Garner. Today’s homicide ruling is an important moment to redouble our efforts demanding full accountability for the officers involved, and an end to the dangerous and discriminatory policies that led to this tragic police killing,” said ColorOfChange Executive Director, Rashad Robinson.

“Mayor Bill de Blasio, District Attorney Daniel Donovan, and NYC Police Commissioner Bill Bratton must show leadership and take immediate steps to stop all violence perpetrated against members of our community by police,” continued Robinson.

A ColorOfChange.org petition, signed by more than 40,000 ColorOfChange members, calls for NYC Police Commissioner Bill Bratton to start the process of firing all the officers involved in this devastating police killing. Furthermore, it calls on Mayor Bill de Blasio and District Attorney Donovan to hold the police department completely accountable for both the individual officers action as well as department policies that encourage such behavior.
