New York, NY — “Shelly Sterling for years has been a willing and active participant in the systemic racial discrimination across the Sterling rental property empire. She has been caught on camera posing as a health inspector to illegally enter tenants homes to enforce the Sterlings’ racial quota systems. Estranged or not, her participation in this kind of despicable housing discrimination scheme makes her unfit for ownership in a predominately Black league. She cannot be allowed to continue as an owner of the Clippers franchise in any capacity.
“In the days following the release of the Donald Sterling tapes, more than 55,000 ColorOfChange members called on sponsors to drop their support of the Clippers. Over a dozen corporations ended their support. We encourage the NBA owners to quickly take the necessary steps to remove both Donald and Shelly Sterling as owners. ”
