Statement from Rashad Robinson, President of Color Of Change on Kim Foxx Not Running for Reelection:

NATIONWIDE – In response to Chicago State Attorney Kim Foxx’s announcement not to seek re-election as Cook County State’s Attorney, Rashad Robinson, President at Color Of Change, issued the following statement:

“Kim Foxx was one of the very first people to stand up and show us what a real prosecutor can do if they are serious about justice. She didn’t just talk about police corruption and the outrage of wrongful convictions, she overturned 200 of them. She didn’t just talk about the problem of police acting like they own our communities and our lives, she actively disrupted and helped to dismantle the Chicago police department’s racist obsession with low level offenses, discriminatory drug law persecution and abusing their power to coerce false confessions. Those changes now benefit everyone, even those who are too corrupt and cowardly to thank her for it. And as a Black woman, she did all of this under a heat few others could handle. Kim Foxx is a friend of justice and a friend of Color Of Change. We thank her for her work and for inspiring thousands of prosecutors to see their work differently and fight to do the right thing. Her legacy lives on wherever we change policy to favor justice and safety over fear and abuse.”
