Statement from Rashad Robinson, President of Color Of Change, on Trump’s Third Indictment

Following the Justice Department’s issue of a four-count indictment charging Trump for his attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential Election with a violent insurrection, Color Of Change President, Rashad Robinson, released the below statement:

“These charges by the Justice Department and Special Counsel Jack Smith are an important step towards achieving accountability for the attempt to undermine democracy by thousands of violent MAGA extremists, whom Trump emboldened to swarm the U.S. Capitol, on January 6th, 2021. This responsibility placed on the former president is a necessary step in securing the integrity of our electoral process. The insurrection was led by Trump and enabled by right-wing media, donors, and many MAGA Republican officials in Congress and around the country. These charges should act as a call to all state and federal prosecutors to not live in fear of partisan retribution, but to always and without exception put justice above politics.”
