Racial Justice Group: Trump Infrastructure Plan is a Corporate Handout at the Expense of Black Communities

NEW YORK, NY – Color Of Change, the nation’s largest online racial justice organization, issued the following statement in response to the release of the Trump administration’s infrastructure plan.

Rashad Robinson, Executive Director of Color Of Change:

“Trump’s infrastructure plan is no different from the rest of his policies—plans meant to benefit white corporate enablers, billionaire developers and Wall Street moguls at the expense of poor Black communities. This administration is forcing already underserved communities of color like Flint, Michigan to compete for federal resources that are critical and long overdue. High pollution, deteriorating roads, diminishing home values, and poisonous water are problems that disproportionately affect Black communities. Trump’s plan would force these cities to compete for limited infrastructure funds while wealthy corporations profit off building private prisons, immigration detention centers, and implementing new tolls and fees on basic services, like clean water, which many working families will not be able to afford. This new scam is an unparalleled handout to the rich and powerful at the expense of Black communities and all working families.

Any member of Congress who supports Trump’s infrastructure plan will be enabling this administration’s ongoing efforts to redistribute of wealth from the poor and middle class to the wealthiest Americans. Members of Congress must support the Democrats’ A Better Deal infrastructure plan, which would provide support for communities that the need aid the most, and prioritize public investment and job creation over corporate handouts and greed.”
