As White Supremacist Continue to Ramp up Racial Violence, BloodMoney.org is an Organizing Tool for People to Take Action Against Corporate Enablers of White Supremacy
NATIONWIDE — Color Of Change, the nation’s largest online racial justice organization, issued the following statement to announce the launch of its new Blood Money website. The website is an interactive hub for the public, including members of the media and Color Of Change’s own 1.3 million members for campaign updates and action opportunities.
Brandi Collins-Dexter, Senior Campaign Director at Color Of Change:
“Emboldened by the Trump Administration’s bigoted rhetoric and policies, white supremacist organizations are further enabled by financial services providers like Discover, Visa, and American Express as well as tech platforms like Amazon. Their services are crucial for white supremacist organizations’ very existence – to build power, expand membership and incite terrorism at organized rallies as they did one year ago in Charlottesville. Financial institutions and tech companies, which profess to value their Black customers, have a responsibility to sever ties with the very groups that seek to murder, harass, and rob Black people of their fundamental right to exist as free people.
This website builds on the success of our #NoBloodMoney campaign, which successfully mobilized more than 100,000 Color Of Change members to push companies like PayPal and MasterCard to take proactive steps to stop processing payments for white supremacist groups. BloodMoney.org is the go-to resource for Color Of Change’s 1.3 million members and the larger activist community to gain vital information about companies still profiting from hate and to using their consumer power to hold these powerful companies accountable. Color Of Change will provide real time updates that will be useful for journalists and researchers who are closely following the confluence of corporations and white supremacy.
We demand Amazon, Discover, American Express and other companies listed use this opportunity to meet with racial justice and civil rights organizations to develop policies and systems to ensure nobody continues profiting from the trafficking of hate.
